Outlook Express Preview (revisited)

I'm experiencing the *same problem* as the original poster i.e. new emails in the Inbox automatically display in the Preview Pane even though the 'Automatically download message..." box in Options|Read tab has been unchecked.

I am having difficulty with step 2 above. I do not see a "root folder for email account ..." or anything which says "Settings" "Don't Synchronize". All I see is the usual 'Local Folders' 'Inbox' 'Outbox' etc.

I'm using Outlook Express 6. Can anyone provide further information on this? Thanks.

The root folder is referring to the folder that is the name of your email account, an example:

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I don't seem to have that - perhaps it appears in a later version of OE. I just checked - I have OE 5 not 6 as I previously stated.

The good news is that my problem is solved - though I'm not sure how it happened :) All I can report is that some time after deleting all my email and news accounts and re-entering them, I noticed everything worked as expected.
