Does IE show in START--PROGRAMS? If so, just right click on it there and choose 'create shortcut' and then drag the new shortcut onto the desktop.

You're not really green until you're soylent green.

Right click on the Start button, then click Properties. Click the Taskbar tab & make sure only the following boxes are checked: Keep the taskbar on top of other windows, Show Quick Launch, Show the clock. Click Apply. You'll now have access to IE via Quick Launch.

If IE isn't listed on the Start menu, go to Start > All Programs, find IE on the list, right click on it & select "Pin to Start menu". You'll now have access to IE via the Start menu.

If you want an IE icon on the desktop, download & install TweakUI:

Once it's installed, go to Start > All Programs > Powertoys for Windows XP & click Tweak UI. In the left column, click Desktop, then on the right, check the box next to IE. Click Apply. You'll now have access to IE via a desktop icon.
