It just comes up a black screen until I put the disk in then it boots up and I can remove the disk. This is really a problem for me

Are you saying that you copied the Win98SE CD to to the C drive and are trying to install Windows from there?

or

Are you saying that you have already installed Win98SE fully but it won't run?

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

When you start normally, what exactly happens - do you get an error message or does nothing happen at all?

I installed it on c drive but when I turn the computer off and then back on it won't boot from the c drive I have to put the disk in and it will boot up and I take the disk out and it works fine but I would rather not have to boot from a disk all the time

Never run into that before. Is it a reformat and install or are you re-installing Windows over the top?

Only thing I can think of is that the install went badly and it is still trying to finish. You could try again, otherwise copy the entire contents of the disk onto the hard disk (into a folder off the root called Win98 or similar). Then install it by double clicking setup.exe from that folder.

Oh, you started a new thread.

Post back the specs as it might be a hardware issue. Run FDISK to make sure the partition is set active.

You said you wanted to reformat and reinstall. But isn't this a fresh install? What did you do before in the previoius install that you can't do now?
