Specs: Windows 98, Intel dual core 2 Ghz / 3 Gb
When i try to install Windows 98 on Acer 5735 laptop, drivers provided with the installation CD does not recognize the optical unit (DVD multi).
Where I can found a bootable disk or CD to load drivers in memory ?

The laptop will likely have a SATA Optical Drive, Windows XP and older do not natively support SATA Controller Chips. Intel do not support older than XP

This is the first of the problems installing a 12 year old O/S, also no drivers for any hardware will be available...

By the way did you mean Acer ASPIRE 5735 ??

Anyway you need to create a BootCD:

Then you will need MS-DOS Drivers, GCDROM may work:

Yes, it is ASPIRE. I will try to use gcdrom.sys in config.sys on the external floppy disk, hoping that I will be able to access the dvd.
Thank you very much, I will tell you in a short time if it works.
Thank you again

Win98 doesn't support SATA hard drives. The only way to get it to install would be to enter the BIOS & change to "IDE compatibility" mode, IF it's even an option. The next problem will be to find drivers. Good luck.
