www.trovi.com takes over my home page on a daily basis.

Specs: Windows 8
I am a Senior PC user so not too savy on PC talk. That said, I am having a problem with www.trovi.com taking over my home page. Is this a piggy-back attached to incoming emails?
I am using Windows 8, and have searched every where on this new Dell Touch Screen to block this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your attention to my problem.

John

I suggest you initially run Junkware Removal Tool (JRT), which is a unique little program that searches for and removes common adware, toolbars and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) from your computer. Download JRT.exe (make sure nothing else is downloaded) from the ‘Author’s site’ here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...

It runs in a command window and can take up to ten minutes to complete. Don’t interrupt it if it appears to be doing nothing, particularly when it’s checking the registry. You may have to right-click or press and hold the shortcut and choose ‘Run as administrator’. A log file is created on the Desktop and both the program (JRT.exe) and the log file can be deleted when you’ve eventually finished with it.

Post back here with your results and/or which other 'anti' programs that need to be run.

If necessary this program is also good at clearing toolbars:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...

Use blue download button top right and "Save" the ADWCleaner file. Double click the saved file to run the Scan. You can select what it removes but it is usually safe to run the Clean. Again the Report (log) would be useful.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

This recent thread on the subject may help:

Trovi is more annoying than malicious and doesn't seem to be too difficult to remove.
