Solved Windows8 wireless adapter/router problems

Specs: Windows 8
I have a Netgear n-300 USB adapter the WNA3100 model it work perfectly on windows 7 but I upgraded to windows8 and starts to download then it completely stops and it disables itself, sometimes I just unmounts it from the USB slot and it reboots but more serious I have to restart the computer and it does not re initialise

Are you using a CD, downloading software from the internet, a driver or what?

Try restart the computer with the adapter removed. When Windows has fully booted insert the adapter and see if Windows 8 already has suitable drivers available. If it says "new hardware found", see if it will setup and work.

downloaded from another computer the newest drivers that are windows8 compatible, deleted all trace of the old drivers, and the same problem kicks in

Apparently you must check your motherboard is also window8 compatible as I have a early 2012 build ASUS and it is not

I use an 6 year old Asus MB with W8.

Give us your EXACT MB model or use SIW to find.
