Specs: Windows XP
My computer operates Windows XP it is no longer being supported I inquired about upgrading to Windows 8 BUT I need to install 1 GB of RAM before I can install. So can I install 1 GB of RAM on my computer.

Go to http://www.crucial.com/ and run the advisor to see how much and what type of ram is on your PC. You will be able to tell if you can upgrade.

Without more specific information about your computer (make/model/etc.) there's no way anyone can possibly state whether or not you can add anything.

FWIW, many early XP machines will likely find Win8 too heavy a load to try. You may be better off aiming for Win7 if you're that concerned about support. And likely 1GB of RAM is the minimum for Win8...it would probably need more for anything to be "fun"...

Even assuming you can get a gig of ram in it it's likely you'll find there are no windows 8 drivers available. There may not even be windows 7 drivers. You should check that before contemplating an OS update.

Don't forget to preorder your Hatch green chili for this fall. Many vendors ship world-wide.
