Windows 8 Right-Click Crash Packard Bell PC

June 22, 2013 at 06:56:56
Specs: Windows 8
If I go to the Windows Desktop and right-click (eg. for properties or to create a new folder) it crashes (dark blue screen, then resets the desktop in about 30 seconds).
I get the same in Explorer - right click, or even click the "New Folder" option and it crashes.
I can right click in Metro view without crashing.

It's a standard Packard Bell PC, 4 GB memory, Intel Quad Q8300, Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard, Soundblaster X-Fi, ATI Radeon HD 5570.I installed from a genuine Windows 8 CD (not a download).

Any error messages when it crashes?

Has this just suddenly started happening?
If so, I don't usually jump to System Restore but it might be the quickest option.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
