Solved Windows 8 laptop screen brightness cannot be changed

February 7, 2014 at 05:46:14
Specs: Windows 8, intel i3, 4GB
I have Toshiba satellite L850-i2011 with newly installed windows 8 OS.
The display brightness can not be changed , though I can move brightness slider up and down.
The brightness adjusts itself when I move from one file to another.
It seems display is making some changes in brightness , but there is a lag during that process.
So it is not comfortable .
Help me to solve this problem.
Thank you

Usually caused by the graphics driver version. Reverting to an older version if available usually cures that problem. In some cases, simply re-installing existing version fixes it too.

Have a look at available graphics drivers for your model on the appropriate Toshiba website for your country:

America: http://support.toshiba.com/support/...

Sometimes, laptops will change the brightness based on whether it is plugged in or not. Check to make sure your charging cable is not half-in or loose. You should be able to adjust this setting in the Power Options.

Control Panel > System > Power Options and just set the brightness for both 'plugged in' and 'not plugged in' to the same.
