Windows 8 is not supported on the HP xw4200. The supported Windows versions for the xw4200 are listed below:

» Microsoft Windows 2000 Pro
» Microsoft Windows XP Professional
» Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
» Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 (AMD64/EM64T)
» Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (AMD64/EM64T)
» Red Hat Linux 7.2
» Red Hat Linux 7.3

You should have checked the HP website before buying Windows 8, then you would have seen that they do not have any Windows 8 drivers for that model (or Windows 7 for that matter).

In addition, it is always a good idea to run the appropriate Windows upgrade advisor before installing a new OS. This will warn you about most incompatibilities before proceeding. Many people omit this simple step and end up spending hours in fruitless troubleshooting.
