How do I change the Com port for my modem in Windows 8? When I google around the instructions say to reinstall the modem, but I just installed it and it has the wrong port. It seems to default to Com 1 and my modem is on Com 4.

So, how do I change the modem com port? If Microsoft provided no method of changing it (unbelievable) then where is it stored -- registry, ini file, etc.?

I think you simply sent me a link to a google search which, as I explained, I've already done. Most of the results you pointed to are not Win8 specific and none address how to change the com port in Windows.

If one of them answers my question please link to it

Hard to do that, when I don't know your modem.

"as I explained, I've already done"
Yes I realized you had done that, maybe I provided different keywords for the search.
The answer will be there, rarely will you be the first to have that problem, either in your modem settings or maybe the firewall settings.

You don't need to know anything about my modem because I'm not trying to change my modem.

I'm trying to change the com port Widows is using to access my modem.
