In device manager uninstall audio driver and restart computer.

If that doesn't help, from device manager try updating the audio driver.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Are you getting the drivers from your computer manufacturer? Don't use drivers you find on the internet.

Is this a 32 bit or a 64 bit machine and are the drivers appropriate in that respect?

What is the make and model number of your computer?

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Have you tried letting Dell detect your model, or using the service tag, see here:
https://www.dell.com/support/articl...

I assume you are downloading the driver and Saving it as a file.

Having saved the file, in addition to #5 above (if necessary) you could do the Uninstall again from Device Manager but this time if it asks whether you want to uninstall the "software" let it do so. Then run in the saved driver and restart the computer.

EDIT:
Did this computer have Windows 8.1 on it from the start or was it previously Windows 7?

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
