Specs: Microsoft Windows 8, 2.386 GHz / 1023 MB
missing uxtheme.dll so windows 8 goes into a black screen. From cmd is their a way to fix this without a windows disk? Originally today out of no where, my computer failed to start and gave me a ntfs file system error. I tried to restore but it stated there werent any restore points. I did a chkdsk c: /f and it fixed the ntfs error so now it only give me the uxtheme error.

I doubt if uxtheme.dll is the only missing file, that's the only one that's triggered so far.
Restore that and you'll very likely find it then tells you others are missing - in sequence. Re-install Windows is my advice.

Can you get to the Run box in Safe Mode and type:
sfc /scannow

Note the single space.

By the way, I have no Windows 8 so I am assuming that command is there (it's been around from XP to Win7).

EDIT:
Ooops - only just noticed age of this post.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
