win 8.1 will not recognize my built in camera . Every time I start the camera app it says please install a camera. The camera worked until yesterday and then this happened and in task manager it showed th camera as Suspended. Now it is not even there. I tried to remove the app but it will not show an uninstall option when I right click on it
Try re-installing the webcam driver. You can download it from your laptop manufacturer's website.
Another way is to run System Restore to a date before yesterday. Possibly a rather big gun for this issue but it works well, is quite quick and preserves your own stuff. See here:

I found the answer this morning on the net. The function key F10 turns the camera on and off. I did not know that. It was that simple
