Solved win 8.1 not recognizing my camera

March 24, 2015 at 01:50:42
Specs: Windows 8.1
win 8.1 will not recognize my built in camera . Every time I start the camera app it says please install a camera.

The camera worked until yesterday and then this happened and in task manager it showed th camera as Suspended. Now it is not even there. I tried to remove the app but it will not show an uninstall option when I right click on it

Try re-installing the webcam driver. You can download it from your laptop manufacturer's website.

Another way is to run System Restore to a date before yesterday. Possibly a rather big gun for this issue but it works well, is quite quick and preserves your own stuff. See here:

I found the answer this morning on the net.

The function key F10 turns the camera on and off. I did not know that. It was that simple

Sorry if I wasted peoples time

OK fine - thanks for the feedback.

Tip for the future, best always give your computer make and model number when posting. Sometimes this can lead us to specific keys or other quirks that exist.
