Possibly run it (XP version) in a virtual machine XP environment?

M$ have their virtual PC as I recall; and it seems to work generally OK?

You're running windows 8 according to your specs... Very likely the XP version of Spider won't worh ith win 8. But if you run the programme (Spider) in XP compatiblity mode - it may work?

And a search for Spider Solitaire Windows 8 in google would be useful too... Will bring up the above link and many others too. There are slightly differnt version of Spider that work with win8; these are not quite the same apparently as the XP version...

I did this and used the MS games from Windows Vista (probably the same as Win 7):

All of them work fine including Spider, and the hex editing was a doddle.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Or simply download the free, Microsoft Solitaire collection from the Win8 Store;

From the Start screen, just type store and it'll get you there.

Plenty of other games there as well.
(Pinball FX2 is pretty good) ;o)

Thanks for all the reply's..None of the XP Spider Solitaire (exe) seem to work...Guess I will have to wait until I can get one of the original ones to work....Myself like a lot of others do not like the new one in Windows 8.1...
