Solved What is creating this superfluous WFVC9E0.tmp folders?

November 21, 2015 at 08:27:10
Specs: Windows 8.1
In the Windows Temp Folder WFVCXXX.tmp files keep appearing and the only way to get rid of them is to shred them with McAfee, but when I reboot they are back with a fresh date and time.

What is creating them? and How do it stop it?

✔ Best Answer
McAfee is producing them it seems, see here:
https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/ind...

Looks like they regard it as correct condition. One way around it is to use a different virus checker. McAfee appears to have a bad name anyhow. There are free virus checkers about.

Hi Derek,

Thank you very much for getting back to me so quickly.
I do respect your advice on this forum because You have been on here a long time.

I was also on here since about 2000, but for some reason my user name or pass word would not work so I finally created a new account today.

I have been using McAfee since 1999 and have never been infected. I have tried
some of the other free versions, but have found glitches in them. And yes I know that a lot of people hate McAfee and It has had its problems at times.
I have used the following free: AVG, AVAST, but didn't have success with them.

Seems like the best bet then is to just ignore them. At least we know they are harmless.

EDIT:
In fact we've been around here much the same time. I first came on here mid 1999, although my original name was "Prof" (what they called me at school). Soon found too many Prof's on here so changed my handle to my real name (with a brief diversion to DerekW - long story).

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
