Solved What does M:\NAPP.dat is miss mean?

Specs: Windows 8
I have an Acer Aspire E1-510-4487. Somehow Windows was removed from my laptop and I ordered a system restore USB from the Acer shop.

When I turn on my laptop it prompts me to insert the usb, follow boot manager, and select the usb from the option.

After doing that, I get an error reading 'M:\NAPP.dat is miss'

Is there a way to resolve this?

It's trying to find a file named napp.dat on drive M. Likely drive M is a virtual drive that's supposed to be created by the recovery software. But in your case your existing drives may have caused drive M to be created under a different drive letter--Maybe N:. Do you have any other drives attached other than the recovery USB drive and your hard drive?

Does the error message give you an option to search elsewhere for the file? If so try replacing the M in the commmand with N and other letters. You may happen upon it's actual location.
