Solved The login screen's text is replaced with symbolsc cant login

Hi everyone, I started up my Samsung laptop and at the login all text was replaced by these weird symbols the only thing that looked normal was my account picture, I can't login because of this. I tried getting to the bios screen at the start but I have a broken laptop screen and use a hdmi cord to my tv there fore won't bring anything up untill it gets to the login screen....I'm stuck any suggestions?

Did this happen after an update or failed update? That seems to be the most common precursor. And it's windows 8 and not linux, right?

The usual solution is to do a system restore, usually from command prompt. Some info on that here:

I'm not sure if your external monitor will be a problem in your being able to see the boot menu screen.

Or, if you don't mind losing all your files you could do a factory reset where your OS reverts to the way it was when it left the factory. You'd need to consult your laptop user guide to see how to do that.
