Your wifi icon didn't change. One icon is for wireless, the other is for wired.

Why are you still running Windows 8 & why are you using Avast?

Windows 10 is still free, download & install using your Win8 product key.

thanks for your reply.
The reason I've not upgraded to 10 is because I worry when I red alot of sites mentioning the Problems with it such as Security , bluetooth and other things . But most people probably such as yourself assume that all the Updates for 10 would take care of these problems. Also I worry about my hdd space as I am limited to 418 gig.
As for Avast - if you believe the Basic Windows Defender can take care of all Virus checking - I would definitely consider getting rid of Avast. I only ever use free Antivirus.

"I worry about my hdd space as I am limited to 418 gig"

What's to worry about? I have a 1TB HDD with 2 partitions. Win10 with my programs (no games) takes up about 40GB on the C-drive (400GB). The D-drive (530GB) is for storage - pictures, music, movies, software backups, etc - about 340GB is used but I'm sure I could cut it in 1/2 if I were to clean house.

And one can always use an external (usb housed) drive to store data too. Ideally ensure that anything "important (to you) content" on the main drive is also safely duplicated off it (to an external drive - and dvd too if it includes photos)?
