Solved Spybot Search and Destroy run as administrator denied

Dell Inspiron black 15r notebook

Specs: windows 8.1
I have run an anti spyware scan on my laptop (windows 8,1) and now cannot remove the issues found because I am being told I don't have administrator rights but when I check in the User Accounts I am the administrator! I have searched for answers and found some but am not very sure of how to proceed. One answer was to "go to Command Prompt, select Run as Administrator, accept UAC prompt (?), enter following command to enable hidden admin acc: net user administrator/active:yes." I got as far as the black screen to type the net.....yes but don't know if it should be on the same line as the 32>, or do I start a new line, or why do I even need to do this if I'm supposedly already an administrator. Urgent help needed, please!

Spybot is a little outdated anymore...have you tried running Adwcleaner yet and fix all it finds?

As far as your post goes...just RIGHT click on the spybot icon and select 'Run as Administrator' That should also work for you

Being logged on as an Administrator doesn't mean that programs you run, are run with Admin privileges. You may have to start the program with Admin priviledges to run it "as an Administrator".

Perhaps if you reveal the name of "an anti spyware", a helper may provide, either the means to run it as Administrator, or perhaps some other (maybe better) software, to scan and clean your computer.

If your "anti-spyware" program doesn't know enough to know about elevation, a concept that's been around for 9 years now, it might be a little out of date.

I don't know about 'elevation' to even comment! lol I use Spybot Search and Destroy. And in the meantime I ran a MalwareBytes scan which said everything was ok. ????

...or if it's a shortcut then right click iy, go to Properties > Advanced button and set it always to Run as Administrator.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
