Did you already install Win8 to the SSD?

You designate D: drive as the destination each and every time you download install or copy something.

I assume what you call D: drive is a separate HDD. Or is it going to be a partition on SSD ?

Start with a blank SSD and boot to the Windows 8 DVD disk or USB install disk.

Choose Language, time, etc

Click Install now.

Enter Product key,

Accept licence,

Choose Custom ( Install Windows only : Advanced ).

Here you can create partitions or use the whole drive.

If you want to use the whole drive click next. Otherwise, click Drive Options ( Advanced )

Follow the on-screen directions to complete installation.

Are you using an upgrade disk or a full disk ? If upgrade disk, your activation may fail.

Note: If you use a separate HDD for your D: drive, do not connect it before you install Windows on SSD. Connect it after you have installed Windows.
