what do I need to do to have sfc/scannow fix win 8 ? I have attached the bottom half of the windows CBS log file -

I don't know what all that means. Just describe what your system is doing wrong and any software or hardware changes you may have made prior to the problem starting. Could it have been damaged in any way--maybe you dropped it or have critters nesting in or on it?

How is it you're running windows 8 with only 1/2 gig of ram? I see a problem there.

I agree. The minimum is 1GB but most would recommend 2GB+ for decent performance.

@ auto7890, are you asking about an HP Compaq dc7100 sff? That thing is over 10 years old. Have you been successfully running Win8 on it with just 503MB RAM? It must be painfully slow. If that's not the machine you're working with, please provide the correct make/model & specs.

Looking at the log file, the error references an AMD64 processor. And looking at your specs, 2.793 GHz does not appear to be the proper speed for an AMD CPU. Are you using a disc for the repair? possibly one that's incompatible with an Intel system?
