Solved Problem copying homemade DVD using Roxio Creator NXT 2

Hewlett-packard Pavilion 23-b010 all-in-...

Specs: windows8, 6GB
I bought (downloaded) Roxio Creator NXT 2 from Amazon to copy my homemade DVD's for Christmas gifts to our kids and grandkids. I managed to get one good copy but the next copy asked me to insert a blank DVD+R disk when I copied a DVD-R disk. I have started over several times and either get that problem or that the "blank" disk already has those files on them or "buffer underrun". I should probably get a refund if I can't use the program. Hoping somebody can figure out what I am doing wrong.

✔ Best Answer
Try rebooting and see if that solves the problem, I had to reboot after installing the program to get it to work correctly. You could also try image burn, create an image of the original disc, then burn copies of it.

This program sounded like a possible solution but McAfee warned me that it is dangerous to download it so I backed off on the download until I hear more about this program. This is the message from

The software is safe.

You can get it from snapfiles:

McAfee should remain silent.

The link you gave in #2 is claimed to be for a program called 7-Zip which is a file compressor and de-compressor - not what you need. Even if you needed to decompress a file Windows has that feature built in. That website appearance gave me bad vibes too (pushy and "in your face") and it is touting Yahoo toolbar (Yuk).

The link given in #3 is for quite a different program but one which is free, easy to use, and appropriate for what you are trying to do. Here is another safe freebie which is very simple to use:

(it is not just for XP - works fine on Win8)

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Just a comment> IF your homemade videos are mpg or avi you can convert them to DVD ie VOB by using dvdflick.

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.

I got CD Burner Xp downloaded and installed OK but cannot find a Copy command, only Burn on two tabs. If I insert my original DVD that I want copied, it appears to want to Burn on that disk not copy it. These programs are making me feel stupid.

I also downloaded dvdflick but as soon as I say to get the file from my DVD disk, Roxio opens and that is not the program I want to use. Roxio keeps asking me to insert a DVD+ disk instead of DVD- disk. I give up.

I have an old version of CDBurnerXP so maybe it has moved on.

With mine it has an option "Copy or grab disc", which also says it "Allows you to copy audio and data tracks". Have you that option and if so have you tried it? I'm assuming yours are not an audio CD (which are treated rather differently to others).

What sort of things have you on the original CD? I'm kinda assuming it is "data", such as pictures, maybe some audio etc. - in other words "data files".

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
