Specs: Windows 8 or 8.1, Intel 2 GHz Core i7 2630QM
About 3 years ago I was given a Dell XPS L502X laptop. It worked fine Turned it on and got to the Windows page with no problem. I only have dial-up internet so had to go to the library to get online. That worked fine. At home I had to use it offline. That worked ok too. I used it less and less and it has been a year or so since I used it, so thought I'd try it again.

To my surprise I got to a page with an Outlook email address I didn't know I had and a passwod request. I don't remember entering a password the last few times I used it a year ago. I tried entering several passwords I use, but none worked. Just got the message, "Your PC is offline. Please sign in with the last password used on this PC."

A couple of the passwords I tried brought up "Welcome" and the little spinning circle. I thought I had it, but it just went back to the "Your PC is offline" message again.

Why can't I use it offline without the password? The email above the password box is an Outlook address, so could I access that from another PC and reset the paaword?

I'm using an old Compaq desktop to write this. The tags and other info is for the Compaq. I couldn't change the information.

Take it back to the library or to another place that has wireless & then try it.
