No internet access for Windows 8 laptop

August 17, 2012 at 04:19:28
Specs: Windows 7
I have windows 8 on an old HP laptop 6910p. After I initially installed Windows 8 internet access was fine.

Now for some reason when I connect my laptop wired or wirelessly to my router I do not get an IP address assigned from DHCP and therefore no internet access even though the machine is connected to the router.

Other devices connected to the router running windows 7 work fine.
I've configured my machine with a static IP address but can't ping the default gateway so there is some kind of fundamental problem going on. What's annoying though is it was fine a few days ago and I've made no changes.

Any help would be much appreciated and please let me know if more info is needed.

Thanks

Try re-installing both network drivers (ethernet & wireless).

Are you able to ping localhost?
