need to factory reset my acer

June 2, 2013 at 11:09:21
Specs: Windows 8
put norton on my machine and now can't get on. Called a tech support group for acer and was going to be charge 149.00 for a factory reset..according to my son I should be able to do this. As it is a new machine and I don't have anything on there to save, I'd just like to try a factory reset without begin charged.

When you say to can't get on do you mean the computer won't start or you can't get online? If you can start it, this general info might help:

For more specific information we need the model name and number.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Also... If this is a new system... Did you receive any disks with it; often called recovery disks? Likwise did you per chance make a set as often advised by manufacturers? As Derek comments actual model etc details will make it much easier to help you.

I can't see how any outfit could justify a charge (certainly that high) for a reset routine; especially as the how to do it is likely on the www, and is also easily given over the phone, or in an email reply from their support.
