Perform Factory Recovery by using the recovery discs which you should have made when your laptop was new and working properly.

If you didn't make them, Toshiba can supply you with a set if the laptop was manufactured after January 2007, but you'll have to pay for them (approx £30 in the UK).

For European countries: https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/

For America: https://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin...

Note: If your problem is due to hardware failure, Factory Recovery will not fix it.

If your laptop/PC has Windows 8 pre-installed, then it should be under warranty. Therefore, I suggest you to contact Toshiba. If you installed Windows 8 lately, then please answer the following questions:

Did you do an upgrade-installation over a previous OS ?

If yes, what was the previous OS ?

How old is your laptop/PC and model designation ?

Can you disable Automatically Restart option so that you can read the fault codes and post ?

Could you find all the drivers for your hardware ?

I clean-installed Windows 8 x64 on my daughter's Toshiba Satellite P300 notebook, which I bought for her in August 2008, using an SSD. Windows 8 works amazingly fast on it. Previously it had Vista x86 on it and it was creeping with all the bloatware Toshiba ( and other OEMs ) put on the notebooks/PCs.
