EDIT:
I am assuming you are talking about your main computer hard disk. If you mean something else then disregard this response.

From what you describe this sounds almost certain to be a hardware fault. If it happened directly after you changed the HD and you now never see anything on the screen at all, then those symptoms do not fit well with a software issue. You need to check all your connections and look for any that might have been disturbed when you were inside the laptop. It is possible that something was zapped.

You said you "accidently push the power button" when you were doing this work. This implies you were working with the power present, which is a recipe for damaging hardware. If you ever embark on this sort of thing in future then remove all power including the main battery first. There is a lot to be said for then holding down the power button for about 20 seconds to discharge the motherboard components too.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I suspect the OP is talking about an external drive though from the words we cannot be sure.
If you just pressed the power button with the machine on then it probably did not fully shut down. In this case, press and HOLD the power button for at least 10 seconds to power it off fully and then press it again briefly to start it. If the yellow or amber light is on and after pressing and holding the button is is off, that is a good sign and it should go to green when you restart it normally.
If you did work on the machine, remove the main hard drive, or other components when it is powered on, then it is hard for us to determine what damage you have done to it. Carefully explain all of the steps you took, what state the power cord and battery were in during each step, what you have tried, and exactly anything you see or hear from the machine, or simply take it to a reliable tech person to evaluate it and fix it.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Interesting thought. Just in case it is about an external drive, I've added a caveat to my #2.

For a split second I thought you were the OP.
It's a trade secret but to give you a clue they are part of the darknet - well hidden in a large cabbage patch.

Thank you Derek, I have a cabbage patch search engine (Spade v4.0.1) and I'm sure I'll find it.

Alt and F10 at start up. Blue screen , choose option 3 to power off and then start up again. Solved.
