Media player unable to read DVD

May 22, 2013 at 09:17:25
Specs: Windows 8
I have an Acer Aspire V5, factory installed system. I have tried several DVD's and they all show the title, but will not read the movie. The system says "no content". This player worked fine for awhile, but now is not playing any movie. I have tried multiple media players as well.

Media Player on Windows 8 can not play DVD movie disks. You have to install a separate DVD movie disk player software, such as Media Player Classic or VLC Media Player, both free.

If you want a more sophisticated software, then you may try and buy Cyberlink PowerDVD13.

The fact that you could play DVD movie disks previously, you may have had a shareware player that has timed out or that Acer-installed player has the codecs corrupted. Check Acer web support.
