Solved laptop won't play Blueray disc

Specs: Windows 8, intel celeron
I'm trying to get verification from Lenovo. The sales literature indicated that it was Blueray capable, but I'm beginning to think that's not the case. I do appreciate your response though. It was MUCH quicker than anything I have received from Lenovo.

It depends what you mean by "Bluray capable". Some CD/DVD drives can both read & write to BD, whilst some others can only read them. Then, of course, there are drives which can do neither, and most CD/DVD drives in use today fall into that category.

The model number of your Lenovo laptop is not really any good for finding out the capabilities of the optical drive, since during it's production run the type of optical drive fitted at the factory usually varies according to country or parts availability.

To be absolutely sure what yours can or cannot do, look in Device Manager > DVD/CD-ROM Drives. Write down the make & model number.

Now type that info into Google Search and read the various pages that come up.
