Solved laptop lags every 20-30 seconds and last about as long

Specs: Windows 7
Hi, I hope someone can assist me. About 4 days ago I noticed my laptop started to lag while playing games or just surfing the internet. I ran Malwarebytes as well as my antivirus and neither found any issues. I would appreciate any help with this matter.

Run these two freebies too, in the order given:

AdwCleaner:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the program. Use the "Scan" button, followed by the "Cleaning" button.

Junkware Removal Tool (JRT)
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run JRT. It might appear to have stopped at times or flash the screen but sit tight until it has finished.

If either of them find anything please paste the associated logs on here and let us know if there has been any improvement.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

It might be due to legitimate software too that's bogging things down. Did you install anything new recently?

Were any changes made to your internet connection

When I run AdwCleaner, it scans but when it is time to clean it hangs up and says not responding. I have to hold down the power button to reboot because I can't stop the program otherwise.

I had it set on power saver. Changed back to hp recommended and running fine now. Thank you though!
