Been struggling with this laptop to get it booting into windows. Its a Sony VAIO, Has Windows 8 installed in UEFI. I'm unable to boot to my hiren boot cd. I can however boot to a Windows 8 disc. I've ran automatic startup repair a few times, no fix, is no system restore points, Refresh PC option doesn't work. Been in command prompt, tried these commands, bootsect /fixmbr, bootsect /fixboot, bootsec /scanos, bootesec /bcdrebuild. All ran successfully, but i did notice on the last 2 commands it said 0 windows installations. Tried to delete and fix this, but is no boot folder on windows, is this because its UEFI ?
Have you tried doing a Repair Install from your Windows 8 disk? I'm pretty sure that Hirens won't work with UEFI.
Repair install doesn't work, cant find windows installed. I've managed to find Safe Rescue or something in the VAIO recovery tools, so backing up HD and then will try full recovery to factory defaults. Simplest solution i reckon.
