Specs: Windows 8
Ive my laptop for almost a year now and ive had problems with it before but this thing started happening a few weeks ago but then finally started working again but last night when i went on it to desktop it started happening again, Basically this lock on the bottom of the screen where battery power, time and that is comes up saying something to do with my applications and event log isnt working but then when i try to go on google chrome it takes like 10 mins or more to finally load up but some sites will freeze up completely or wont work, the other problem is when i go put the sims on as putting the disk in the installing thing wont come up at the side of the screen. I just want to know how to fix it. Oh and by the way my laptop is a Hp windows 8.

Hi Maia:

You post is a little confusing/unclear… although i think I understand the first part to some degree - in that you're having problems connecting to the internet?

It's this second part that really isn't clear though - at least to me…

" the other problem is when i go put the sims on as putting the disk in the installing thing wont come up at the side of the screen. I just want to know how to fix it."

Can you restate you two problems - separately - here in your reply; and perhaps explain what the second problem is especially - if only to make it easier for folks here to possibly help you?

Do a system restore to a date at least a week before the issues began.
Restart in Safe Mode with networking. Download, Install Update, and Run Malwarebytes. Remove all it finds.
Update and run antivirus program.
Restart in normal mode.
Do a Disk Clean Up. (Its a little harder to find than in Windows 7, but it should be there).
Try your browser and Sims again.
Post details and results for more advice.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Just for info, one way to the "Disk Clean-up" button in Windows 8 is to right click the system drive (usually C) and select Properties.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
