I have a drive named \\?\Volume{b6a3f0...

Specs: Windows 8
The only place this drive comes up is in my Optimize Drives window...it is always 37% fragmented. I did not create this drive and am just wondering if anyone knows what it is.

Are you using TrueCrypt?
Or, any encryption?

Have a look in Disk Management. It's probably the hidden partition that Windows 8 creates.

This is quite well known and has been well discussed if you look in Google. I have had it myself ever since upgrading to Win 8.1.

There has been no solution but it is thought to be a Windows bug, or maybe that hidden partition ijack mentioned. Best just leave it in place - it is quite harmless and only matters if you are desperately short of HD space.

It's a long time since I searched Google. This search found plenty but I've not yet spotted anything really useful:
It can arrive whether you have an SSD or a conventional HD.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
