I can't access my Internet (Malware)

October 30, 2015 at 18:34:03
Specs: Windows 8.1
Okay so I downloaded something earlier on my other laptop. Turned out it was a virus and now I can't access the internet at all.

I uninstalled it and restarted but nothing is working.
Help?
All I know is that it has something to do with my DNS, when I try diagnose an error - 'Ip Configuration has stopped working' shows up.

There are various ways to tackle this but I would be inclined to use System Restore (in Control Panel > System > System Protection). This will not lose your own stuff - just choose a restore point dated before your downloaded. Note, I DO NOT mean factory restore.

With luck you will then be able to go on line again. Best then to run these three programs in the order given:

AdwCleaner:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the program. Use the "Scan" button, followed by the "Cleaning" button.

Junkware Removal Tool (JRT)
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run JRT. It might appear to have stopped at times or flash the screen but sit tight until it has finished.

MalwareBytes:
https://www.malwarebytes.org/
Download the free version.
Install and Run the program but before doing its Scan go to "Settings > Detection and Protection" and put a checkmark in "Scan for rootkits". Quarantine anything it finds.

Please copy/paste the logs on here.

Otherwise you could Save the three files on another machine then copy them over using a flash drive.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Run Windows Defender & see if it removes the malware.

I can't access the internet from that laptop, so I can't download anything. And this laptop is brand new so it has no earlier restoration points :(

If running Windows Defender doesn't help then load the programs I suggested using the method given in the last line of my #1 (using a flash drive). Just take them one at a time.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
