mmm What mode laptop do you have?

Are you aware that restoring/resetting to factory state, - or simply "re-installing" windows - will delete "all" your personal files in the process. So have you copied anything you wouldn't wish to lose.. to external media; typically DVD but another external hard drive too is nice(r)?

I'm probably being silly but have you any media to insert? Often you have to produce a CD/DVD or Flash drive before you start (or preferably shortly after you buy the computer).

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

On my Asus G75VX it has a recovery partition. You press F9 during bootup and it presents you with the options to restore the OS from the hidden partition. Is that how you did it?

To clarify...

Do you have a proper/full windows setup disk, or do you have a recovery disk - which you made in the early days when you received the Asus?

Also we need to know the exact model of your Asus; they're not all the same...
