You have 6GB RAM so I'm guessing you have Win7 64-bit? To install a 32-bit OS, you will have to wipe the drive & install from scratch. Also, be aware that the 32-bit OS will only recognize approx 3.5GB RAM, possibly less. Not a good move.

Windows 8 upgrade disks are bootable. Assume yours is either damaged or a special upgrade disk.

Since you seem to have more than 4 GB RAM, you had better find 64-bit W8 and install that. Otherwise, you will lose more than 2 GB RAM because 32-bit uses less than 4 GB.

Find a friend who has a 64-bit disk and use that. You may also try downloading a copy of W8 by showing your product key. Please see Upgrade to Windows 8

If your computer is new and W8 disk came as a bonus, then contact the seller and ask for a correct disk for your computer.
