I bought a hdmi to cvbs converter box to convert to rca in for the tv..I am using a dell 6 laptop with only hdmi out.. When I turn on my computer the signal goes through but picture rolls uncontrolably and has no color..What am I doing wrong?

There are two RCA setups. One of them transmit all all video on a single cable. The other splits video over 3 cables. Does your converter look like this? http://www.amazon.com/Portta-PETHCS...

That sounds like it should do the job. Set the HDMI's resolution to the lowest setting possible to see if the picture clears up.

If so, go up one notch at a time until you find your upper limit.

If not, either the converter, cable, or TV input is bad.

Just thinking aloud but (assuming you have set the pal/ntsc switch to the standard for your country) I wonder if your laptop USB has sufficient power for this converter as it sounds like it is not decoding properly. Is it the same on every USB? Sometimes extra power cables are provided for USB powered devices so that you can add additional power from another USB.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I couldn't find the converter initially, but then it showed up on my Amazon page because of the link I posted above. Just glancing at the reviews, but there seems to be a 50/50 shot of the converter being DOA. http://www.amazon.com/AFUNTA-Compos...
