how to fix the audio service

Specs: Windows 7
my toshiba satellite has no audio. tried everything to figure it out. it tells me it has no audio service. how can i fix this.

was this an upgrade to win 7 or the original OS?

Not sure which the "if so" applied to. Whatever, it would be useful to have that information and getting the latest drivers is a good idea

I assume you are running Windows 8 or 8.1 (despite the posted spec).

Look in Device Manager to see if there are any errors showing under the heading "Sound, video and game controllers (Audio sub-section)". You can get to Device Manager from the pop-up when you hold down the Windows key and give one tap of the X key.

Did your audio just suddenly stop - if not what is the background to this?

Have you updated to Win 8.1 and also installed the follow-up update?
