Solved How to fix issues with computers not recognising memory card

March 31, 2016 at 19:49:59
Specs: Windows 64
I had the same problem as others. My computer suddenly stopped reading flash drives/memory cards. I have managed to fix the issue and thought I would share to help.
When opening device manager on Windows 8.1, the drives would show with exclamation marks. I was trying to update drivers, but it kept telling me there was no driver available, even though I was connected online. It seems the computer had stopped downloading drivers & even updates, but all the way, it was telling me everything was fine. I could not even download the Windows 10 free upgrade at this stage.
Worth trying.
1) turn on computer in safe mode (apparently, it helps fixing some issues)
2) turn off again, then re-open with enable boot logging
After doing this, I was able to download Windows 10 upgrade. Once Windows 10 was installed on my computer, I was able to access again all cards and flash drives!

I think what happened to me was that some system files were accidently deleted (may be when deleting file my anti virus told me were corrupted. If you have a Windows 10 upgrade available, go for it. If you can not download Windows 10 upgrade, then, I guess the best solution is to re-install your operating system if you have the disk available to fix all issues.
I hope this will help some.
best regards

If you do not want to upgrade to Windows 10, download GWX Control Panel & use it to block the upgrade plus delete all the Win10 files that were already sneaked onto your system. I prefer the standalone version, but it's up to you:
