Specs: windows 8
after I set my computer windows 8 to refresh it started up in a foreign language,,,I do not know the language involved so I cant operate the computer help me to change it back to English please

Yeah, getting there in an unknown language is tricky. Here are a few thoughts to get you going:

This translator can be used to input any language (use AutoDetect):

Copy in some text off the screen and it will tell you what language you are in, which might help you.

The setting is in Control Panel > Languages if you can somehow set to Classic View.
The icon is a globe with an A at the bottom.

What's the history of your computer?

I know you can change the keyboard language and the language of some of the menus and dialog boxes but I always thought you couldn't change the base language that windows was installed in. For that you need to do a reinstall using the OS disk from the language you prefer.

If that's correct (and maybe it's not) then a previous owner must have reinstalled an English version from disk and left the original foreign language recovery partition alone. Either that or there was some mixup when the OS was originally installed.
