Run the Factory Recovery on your computer - - it will set up Windows again just like it was when you bought it.

Be aware, however, that Factory Recovery will overwrite everything that's currently on the hard drive, so backup your files first to a different location if you haven't already done so.

Does it let you go to the normal activate process? If so then try the normal procedure first as this will not lose your own stuff. You can still fall back on Factory Recovery.

I'm assuming of-course that they really did get shot of the virus but this an unknown. Factory Recovery will almost certainly leave you virus free.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I'm wondering now what you meant by activation. I took it to mean the authentication procedure via Microsoft.

If that's not what you mean, let us know exactly what the computer now does, with any on-screen messages.

Are you able to continue with the Microsoft activation procedure or won't it let you?
This involves either online activation or by phone from a number given on the screen.

If they gave the computer back in this state they were a bad repairer. Most likely they reloaded Windows then left it at that.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
