Solved How do I get back Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Powerpoint?

June 16, 2015 at 20:17:49
Specs: Windows 8
My computer did some sort of restore yesterday. I'm not sure exactly what happened. My son was looking at the computer trying to fix a problem with the audio because nothing I tried had worked. (No sound and computer wasn't giving me access to control panel.) When he gave me back the computer, everything was gone. I have the Lenovo apps, my personal files and I managed to get Windows back to what I think is an 8.1 version. (minimal changes to what I had) What I still need desperately is to find my Microsoft Software that came loaded on the computer..Excel, Word, Powerpoint ,etc. My ex says it might be on a "partition". Don't know what that is or how to get there. Help.

If you do not have the disc but you have the genuine product key for Office 2007 you can download and install it from HERE.

Type in start-->search-->excel or word.
or try to see it in c:\program files(x86)\microsoft office\office 12
Edit: what your son did? factory reset?

Hello.

Try to check if Microsoft Office is installed. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall. See the list if you can find Office.

If it seems that Microsoft Office is not installed, you will need a setup disk.

If it is already installed, try searching in your start menu for word, PowerPoint, and excel.

Hope that helps.

"When he gave me back the computer, everything was gone"

It seems that your son did a "factory restore". Unfortunately, a lot of people (too many) choose this method of "repair" because it's less time consuming than troubleshooting & fixing the actual problem. Basically what it does is backup your personal files, then re-installs Windows from scratch. In the process, it wipes out any customization you've done plus any programs you've installed since the computer was new.

It's likely you will have to re-install Microsoft Office. Do you have the disc?
