Asus model #D553m it was my sisters who recently passed away for the HDD password or enter master password what do I do
Hold down the Alt + F10 buttons during startup. Or,
Enter the Bios by toggling F1, Tab to the HDD Password section which should be displayed as follows:
HDD Password
HDD = Built-in HDD
HDD Password Mode = USER Only
User Password = Registered
Tab to the "User Password" field and simply enter the old password and then a new one twice (once to verify) as one would do normally. If you don't want a password, just press "enter" twice.
HDD passwords would be useless if they could be easily bypassed or removed. If you have the original receipt or some other proof of purchase, contact ASUS Support.
https://www.asus.com/us/support/callusHere's what ASUS has to say about HDD passwords:
"The HDD password protects all data stored on the hard disk, keeping the data safe from being read or overwritten by unauthorized users."
"Even if the HDD is removed from your PC, the data inside remains inaccessible."
"If the HDD password protection feature is activated, users will be prompted for a password when the system boots up or when entering the BIOS setup menu. If the wrong password is entered more than three times, the BIOS generates a warning message and stops the system."If the warning message is a numerical code, you can try entering it at the following site & see what comes up. If you can access the BIOS, you might be able to remove the HDD password. I've never used this before so you're on your own: https://bios-pw.org/
