1st drive solid state w/ os on it 2nd drive sata, works with solid state by its self but when I install 2nd drive it says can't find OS its a HP dv9000 lap top( 2nd drive reformatted) message edited by guy-one
Go into the bios after you I install 2nd drive, go to Boot & make sure the SS drive boots first.
Just for into, for your laptop it is stated that you enter BIOS by pressing F10 while the HP logo is displayed. Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

thanks but tried that, bois doesn't see 2nd drive tried installing it after boot, still doesn't see it but still will not boot w/ both drives in.
With everything plugged in normally what drives are listed in BIOS? Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
It doesn't list hard drive (name) just hard drive didn't see second drive (not even one & two)
On the face of it sounds as if the BIOS is screwed but that would be mighty unusual. I assume both drives are SATA. Although it shouldn't be necessary I wonder if it would tell us something if you swapped over the two connections
Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
Its a note book, and yes I tried swapping the two drives, know difference. I'm don't want to do anything with bios because hp doesn't recognize os (came with vista) I don't want to have a paper wait if it goes bad!
