Solved Gateway Laptop won't boot up usb to new hdd

Specs: Windows 7
original hard drive failed then I got new one, cant access boot screen to boot to new hard drive. gateway ne510

By booting to the USB, are you trying to install an OS on the new HDD? What did you copy to the USB?

The key to access the boot menu for that model should be F12, pressed when the gateway/acer logo or posting screen is showing. Is that what you're asking? Your thread title doesn't match your description. You can't boot up a new hard drive until it's got windows installed on it but you should be able to put a USB device as the first boot device and then boot from it--assuming it's got bootable media in it.
