Specs: Window 8, 4G
I was attempting to create the recovery disks for the HP Window 8.0 laptop. HP Recovery Manager needed 5 disks. After 2 disks made done, I returned to my laptop and saw Window ask me to update Window 8.1. I updated it to Window 8.1.

After Window 8.1 update done, when returning HP Recovery manager, it asked me to continue the third recovery disks. I selected "Continue". However, Disk 3 verified failed at 2%, the pop up window asked me to use another disk and try again. I attempted twice but both are failed.

How do I fix this to create the entire recovery disks?

Thank you for your suggestions.

Best Regards,

You can order Recovery Media from your support page. Scroll down the list of drivers/software to see the option to order.

There is a slight chance you may get a free set if you call HP Support & tell them your laptop fails in the creation process. 800-474-6836

======================

I called HP Tech Support at 800-474-6836
And they asked me S/N number and Product number. I did not have them on hand while travelling

I will post following up after I return and call HP in the week of Christmas.

Yeah, pity you accepted the update just then - it's virtually an upgrade.

Restart the computer and try starting the backup from square one if it will let you. I appreciate it will waste the disks already used.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Seems it only lets you make one set of disks, which is a problem if it backfires. It's a bit convoluted but I think this approach might be the way around it:

EDIT:
When you unhide protected files you will probably get some desktop.ini files appearing on the desktop and elsewhere. Ignore them - just re-hide protected system files when finished and they will vanish.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I called the above phone number. Tech Support told me to charge $40.00 for recovery disks. I complained this and they transfered me to 877-917-4380 to talk with Case Manager. He agreed sending the recovery disks with no charge
