Specs: Windows 8 Release Preview, 2.2 GHz / 3 GB
I have a PC running Windows 8 Release Preview, and when I launched GIMP 2.8, I get this error message 20-30 times at startup:

The procedure entry point gzdirect could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\bin\libxml2-2.dll.

I tried re-installing GIMP 2.8 and re-starting the computer and it does not work.

Windows 8 is still a "work in progress" and not yet finished for final release. As such, Gimp and many other applications have not been tested on it yet.

Gimp 2.8 and it's Windows support files do not claim to be compatible with Windows 8 (since it hasn't even been tested on it yet). The Gimp download page clearly says Windows 7,Vista, XP, 2000, no mention of Windows 8 anywhere.

Microsoft has released the "preview" version of Windows 8 so we can see what it's like. Applications will not be tested on it until Microsoft declares that it's ready for final release, by which time it may have been substantially modified compared to what you have now.

If you want all your applications to work properly you can't expect that on the Windows 8 Preview Release.

I have the exact same problem with Gimp 2.8 and also reinstalled twice. The problem is clearly NOT with Windows 8. I am running Vista 32bit IE9.

Any other ideas.............
