Solved do i need to enable active x for youtube on win 8

Specs: Windows 7
i have recently upgraded to win 8 on hp laptop, I use youtube quite a lot and downloaded adobe flash which led to conflicts and after looking at a few forums i realised that ie 10 has it already built in on win 8 so i uninstalled the flash i had downloaded and got my computer back, except that youtube regularly crashes, i have now noticed in tools menu, safety that active x filtering has a check mark next to it, should this be so, thanx for any answers, jimmy.
