Did laptop factory reset now need password forgot cant reset

Specs: Windows 7
had to do a factory reset done on gateway laptop upon restarting somehow i made it so that i need a password (something I don't want to have to do) to get on the computer screen well of course i forgot that password so i tried to reset the password & a screen pops up stating "This feature requires removable media such as a USB flash drive. Please connect a USB flash drive & then try again." What do i do to get the password protection off. I NEED HELP, PLEASE!! I'm really not sure what operating systems i'm running...can't check because i can't get on there lol VERY AGGRAVATED Please help if possible

How can you not know which OS you're running? You're posting in the Windows 7 forum so I assume it's Windows 7, but there are several editions - Home, Pro, Ultimate, 32-bit, 64-bit, etc.

If you just did the recovery, how can you not remember the password that you just created? Are you sure you even entered one during the re-installation? Did you try leaving it blank? Why not just run the recovery again but this time, pay closer attention!

You don't know what operating system is on your computer.

You don't know what password you were using.

Is it your computer?
